What I can offer
I studied these subjects and did well in them: differential equations, linear algebra (both levels), Calculus III and numerical analysis. But I don't teach them often, and a student who needs someone working in them every day might be better served by a graduate student or an instructor in the field.
If you still want to try, here is how it works:
- You need a solid foundation. It works best when you're accomplished in the courses that led up to this one.
- The student helps the tutor help the student. Some material I know cold. Some I need my memory jogged on, and you, studying it right now, are the one who jogs it.
- I prepare between sessions at no charge. You pay for the hour we sit together, not for my homework.
- Send me your materials in advance. At this level it is essential.
- If I'm not helpful, you don't pay. The downside is your time.
Also worth knowing: campus math labs, office hours, and graduate students at nearby universities are often excellent for this level, and I'm happy to suggest them alongside our sessions.
Topics I work on most
- Calculus III: multivariable functions, partial derivatives, multiple integrals, vector calculus
- Differential equations: first-order, second-order linear, Laplace transforms
- Linear algebra: systems, matrices, vector spaces, eigenvalues
- Introductory proof-based courses
